Donald Dean Booe's Obituary
Donald Dean Booe passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born on July 22, 1933 in Humboldt, Kansas to Guy Franklin Booe and Vera Irene Rush. He attended school in Shaw, Chanute, and Humboldt, Kansas, where he graduated from high school.
He married Dorothy Evelyn Nordt on September 26, 1952. They made their home in Chanute, Kansas, where they raised their children. They later divorced.
He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. After returning to Chanute from the Army, he went to work as a car man for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1994 after 39 years.
He was a long time member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Transportation Communication Union. Don was a hard worker who enjoyed following his favorite baseball, basketball and football teams and visiting with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary Gene Booe, sister LaDonna June Gibson, son Tracy Eugene Booe, and grandson James Michael Booe.
His survivors include children Cindy McCoy, Independence, KS, Tony Booe, Lynnwood, WA, and Tim Booe, Chanute, KS; brother, Robert Booe and his wife, Alexine, of Atchison, KS; eight grandchildren Ashlee and Shane McCoy, Levi Booe, Joshua Baucom, Nathan Booe, Travis Booe, Mike Booe and his wife Brandi, and Misty Booe; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market St., Wichita, KS 67202-9624.
Cremat ion has taken place. A private, graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.
