Donald A. Cole's Obituary
Don Cole 89, of Howard, Kansas passed away on June 2, 2015 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas. Don was born on February 16, 1926 in Buffalo, New York to Arthur and Alice (Olds) Cole.
Don was united in marriage on October 16, 1948 to Audrey Moore in Rochester, New York. The couple had 4 children. Don was a coppersmith and was a member of the East Avon Volunteer Fire Department, where he held many positions including Fire Chief.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He loved to take them to Letchworth State Park in New York where they would fish, hike, and deer watch and have picnics. Don was a self taught piano player and could play any song he heard. Don was very close to his great-grandson Corbin. They were the best of buddies and made many special memories together.
Don is survived by his wife Audrey. His Sons: Roger Cole and wife Jeanie of Pennsylvania and Steven Cole of Andover, KS. Daughters: Cathy Gagnon and husband Gene of Elk Falls, KS and Barbara DeBrito of Cape Cod, MA. Brother: Thomas Cole of Avon, NY. Sister: Jane Pearre of Keane, NH. 6 - Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren.
Cremation has been requested and no services are planned. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been requested to the East Avon Volunteer Fire Department and may be left with or mailed to Countryside Funeral Home. Services are entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home 206 E. Washington, P.O. Box 1233, Howard, KS 67349.
