Donita Mae Houghton's Obituary
Donita Mae Houghton age 65, of Altoona, KS passed away Tuesday, July 05, 2016 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Donita was born August 2, 1950 in Neodesha, KS the daughter of Donald and Shirley (Smith) Steeves.
Donita graduated from Altoona High School in 1968 and then attended college for four years. On September 22, 1972 she married Arthur Dale Houghton in Fredonia, KS. Donita was a wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed baking with the grandkids and sewing. She belonged to Sunnystone a women’s educational group and was a past board member of the Altoona Library. She was also secretary of the Over 50 Center in Altoona.
She is survived by her husband; Dale of the home, daughters; DeEtta Sikes and husband Jeremy of Liberty City, TX, Amelia Cooley of Independence, KS, Charlotte Cross and husband Jeremy of Portsmouth, VA, Jayci Britt and husband Aaron of Independence, KS, Katarina Pound and husband Justin of Fredonia, KS, sisters; Nyla Bongiorni and husband Gary of Thayer, KS, Sonya Meigs and husband Richard of Neodesha, KS, and 12 grandchildren.
Donita was preceded in death by her parents; Donald and Shirley and brother; Randy Steeves.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, KS. Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Thayer Christian Church with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to Thayer Christian Church and may be left with the funeral home.
