Doris Irene Douglas' Obituary
Doris Irene Douglas, 96, of Chanute, KS passed away on August 18, 2018 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. She was born to Bertie Jiles and Alta Gladys (Gentry) Carver in Altoona, KS on December 6, 1921. After graduating from Altoona high school in 1939, Doris moved to Toledo, OR in 1942 where she married the love of her life, Virgil Douglas, on September 24, 1944 and shared nearly 74 years of marriage with him. The couple moved to Chanute in 1950 and into their current home in 1966. Virgil survives her at their home of 52 years.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband’s contracting business and enjoyed gardening, canning produce, and cooking. She was an unmatched caregiver to numerous friends and relatives, always putting others before herself. Doris proudly shared her love of God by teaching the junior Sunday school class and attended the Parkview Holiness Church in Chanute. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl and Lloyd Carver; sister, Mildred Marsh; and an infant sister.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 9-10:00 a.m. at Parkview Holiness Church in Chanute, KS with a service following at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place directly after at Altoona Cemetery in Altoona, KS.
