Dorothy E. Myers' Obituary
Dorothy Evelyn Myers, age 82, of Severy, Kansas passed away December 23, 2008 in Sedgwick, Kansas. Dorothy was born on July 10, 1926 in Gage, Oklahoma the daughter of Charles and Theresa (Jontra) Sims. She moved to Kansas with her parents at an early age.
She was a graduate of Howard High School and attended Emporia State Teachers College and taught school for one year. She was baptized in her early twenties into the Methodist Church. On December 22, 1945 she was united in marriage to Richard Myers of Severy. To this union was born two children Gaylen Richard and Marcia Lynn.
She was a member of the Severy United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and her pictures of her family.
She leaves to mourn her passing one son Gaylen Myers and his companion Linda of Atlanta, Kansas, one daughter Marcia Allen and her husband Lyle of Sedgwick, Kansas, one brother Keith Sims and his wife Joyce of Newton, Kansas, six grandchildren; Jeff Myers and his wife Tricia, Nick Myers, Nichole Myers, Colina Myers, Donna Waldon, and Heather Heller, several step grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 29, 2008 at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Severy. Family suggests contributions to either the Severy United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left with the funeral home.
