Dorothy Dean Waltermire's Obituary
Dorothy Dean Waltermire was born on November 12, 1928, and passed away on April 17, 2025. She married Sam Waltermire on November 4, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1993. Dorothy is survived by her four children (James Waltermire, Betty Andersen, Bill Waltermire, and Tawnya Madl), 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Dorothy lives most of her life in Chanute, KS, except for 6 years in rural Neosho County and 15 years in Portland, Oregon where her husband worked for Ash Grove. She loved to paint and would often sketch figures while on the phone with friends. She was always ready to play a good game of cards, of which “Pitch” was a favorite, majority of all family gatherings involved playing a few games of cards after eating a meal together. She also loved playing bingo. She was a lifelong country music fan, one of her favorite memories was seeing Hank Williams at the Grand Ole Opry in 1949. Dorothy was truly a nice, generous, and caring person that will be deeply missed.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery.
