Douglas Wayne Drybread's Obituary
Douglas “Doug” Wayne Drybread, 42, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1983, at Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute, Kansas.
Doug graduated from Chanute High School in May 2002. He later attended NCCC, graduating in May 2008 with his Associates of Science Degree, and continued on to earn his Bachelors in Business and Accounting degree from Pittsburg State University in December 2011. At the time of his passing, Doug was employed at Orizon Aerostructures.
Doug was a man of strong faith and deeply valued his personal relationship with God. He loved his country, cherished his family and friends, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Doug especially loved music, the water, the beach, traveling, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Those who knew him best will remember his kind heart, his loyalty to those he loved, and the joy he found in life’s simple moments.
He is survived by his mother, Paula Drybread and grandmother, Nancy Drybread both of Chanute; brother, Jordan Drybread and wife Lisa, along with their daughter BriElla of Iola; sister, Mina Drybread of Meriam Kansas; aunts and uncles Bill Drybread, Joann and Jim Westhoff, Sharon and Lester Harrison, and Laura and Roger Bollig all of Chanute; as well as numerous cousins, his lifelong, best friend, Perseus Knudsen; and many other dear friends.
Doug was preceded in death by Grandfather, Lloyd Drybread and cousin Matthew Westhoff-Strode who welcomed him home into eternal peace.
Family was very important to Doug, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held Sunday, May 31st at 4:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute, KS and conclude at 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 1st at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Chanute, KS.
