Edna M. Mueller Culp's Obituary
Edna Elliott Mueller Culp of Petrolia, KS. passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Arrowood Assisted Living in Humboldt, KS. She was born July 24, 1926 in Humboldt, KS, the daughter of Arthur and Lucile Elliott.
She attended grade and high school in Humboldt and Kansas Business and Secretarial School in Kansas City, MO.
After graduation, Edna married Junior Mueller. This marriage later ended in divorce.
Edna was a well-known owner and proprietor of the Bivouac Tavern and the La Cuchara Dining Room Restaurant in Humboldt, KS.
She later sold both businesses, moved to California, and married Clifford Mueller, who precedes her in death.
While in California, Edna worked at Chaffey High School. During the school term, she was a counselor, and registered incoming freshmen during the summer months. During this time, she married Herbert Mueller. After retiring, they moved back to Kansas, first to Wichita, then to Petrolia. Herbert also precedes her in death.
In 1995, Edna met Bill Culp, who she later married. They loved working on their lawn, traveling in their motor home, dancing, and during winter months enjoyed Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. They also loved reading the newspapers and listening to the news on television.
Edna was baptized in St. Peters Lutheran Church in Humboldt, KS in 1946 by P.C. Kraus. In 1996, she and her husband transferred to Otterbein Methodist Church in Chanute, KS. Failing health made her unable to attend church but her husband attended and informed her of the sermon each Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; two infant children; two sisters; a nephew; and five brother-in-laws.
Edna is survived by four sisters, Jean Lindsey, Hazel (John) Robb, Judy (Jerry) Middendorf, Joan (Bruce) Snodgrass; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Humboldt Chapel. A graveside service will be held on July 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
