Edwin Lee Tate's Obituary
Edwin “Ed†Lee Tate, age 81, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia, Kansas. Ed was born on May 11, 1926 in Colby, Kansas the son of Harry and Leona (Byler) Tate. On November 10, 1979, Ed married Betty Dye Wickham of Fredonia. She survives at their home.
Ed served in the United States Army from December 1945 to January 1947. He worked as a machinist inspector in the aircraft industry for many years. Ed was a member of the Simi Valley, California Baptist Church, and also a member of the Fredonia Optimist Club. For many years he coached girl’s softball. He coached teams in Simi, CA and here in Fredonia. In his spare time when not telling jokes, he liked to talk on the C.B. radio, pheasant hunt and fish.

12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife Sue Wasson. A brother Donald “Jack†Tate and a sister Mary Ella Middleton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, November 16, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Fredonia with Pastor Steve Brodbeck officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from noon until 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. at Countryside Funeral Home, Fredonia, Kansas. Interment will be at the Fredonia City Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to the First Christian Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
