Eleanor Maggie Rains' Obituary
Eleanor Maggie Gibson-Rains, 93 passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
She was born on July 5, 1922 to William “Bill” and Maggie Jewel Grogan in Norwood, Mo. Eleanor was united in marriage to Elmer Lee Gibson on August 16, 1938. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1997. On March 20, 1998 she was united in marriage to Charles “Edgar” Rains. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2011.
Eleanor is survived by three sons: Larry D. Gibson of Iola, David L. Gibson (Connie) of DeSoto, and Bruce W. Gibson (Jane) of Humboldt; one daughter: Sandra Sue Bailey (Larry) of Earlton; 23 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and 40 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Norma Jean Clements of Chanute and Nata Schutz of Baltimore, MD and one brother: Max Grogan of Thayer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, 2 daughters: Sharon Marie Dalton and Glenda Ann Clements, 1 son Doyle D. Gibson, 5 brothers: Ira, Archie, Earl, Merle, and Carl Grogan, and 3 sisters: Retha Grady, Eva Rains, and Bernice Ruhl.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life United Brethren Church in Chanute, KS. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel in Chanute. Interment will be at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. Highland Ave. Chanute, KS 66720.
