Elizabeth Irene "Peggie" Johns' Obituary
Elizabeth Irene “Peggie” Johns, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, KS. Peggie was born June 15, 1936, the daughter of George and Doris (Horton) Cowan in rural Humboldt, KS.
Peggie attended school in Humboldt and Benedict, KS. She then went on to earn a degree as an L.P.N.
She and Lloyd Johns were married in Iola, KS and they later divorced.
Peggie was the mother of four sons whom she is survived by; Don Johns and wife Susan of Galena, KS, Bud Johns of Austin, TX, Lloyd Johns of Topeka, KS, Joe Johns and wife Vickie of Frontenac, KS.
She is also survived by two sisters; Marie Miller and Jo Callarman and husband Roy of Chanute, KS, brothers; George Cowan and wife Caroline of Enid, OK, John Cowan and wife Phyllis of Neodesha, KS, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Peggie was preceded in death by her parents George and Doris, sisters; Mabel Floyd, and Roberta Hamlin, and brothers; Tommy Cowan and Swede Johnson.
Peggie has been cremated per her wishes and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
