Ella Mae (Lindquist) Chapman's Obituary
Ella Mae (Lindquist) Chapman passed away on Jan. 9, 2015 at Diversicare of Chanute; she was 77 years old. Ella was born on Sept. 28, 1937 in Erie, KS; the daughter of John Theodore and Eunice (Brown) Lindquist. She spent all her life in Chanute, KS; attending Chanute schools and eventually graduating from Chanute High School.
After high school Ella attended cosmetology school in Independence, KS and received her certification in cosmetology training; she then began to work as a hairdresser in Chanute. In 1957, Ella met and married Tom Frederick; the couple was blessed with five children: Janet, LuAnn, Brian, Lisa, and Scott. Ella and Tom later parted ways yet they remained good friends. Later, Ella married Edgar L. Chapman, he preceded her in death in 1994. Ella had several hobbies; she enjoyed bowling, yard work, taking care of her flowers, and especially caring for her grandchildren and her family.
Ella Mae Chapman was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and sister, brothers: John, Everett, and Ralph Lindquist, her husband Edgar, and a step-daughter: Debbie Reeves. She is survived by her friend and father of her children Tom Frederick of Chanute, KS; her children: Janet Holman and husband Larry; LuAnn Parson and husband Brian; Lisa Kinkel and husband Steve; Scott Frederick and wife Melissa; all of Chanute; and Brian Frederick and Andrea of Midlothian, TX. Also, by her step-daughter Kathy Day of MO, her sister Alma Price of McPherson, KS; grandchildren: Tamara, Andrew, Brandyn, Breanna, Ashlynn, Baylee and Shalynn, great-grandchildren: Parker and Spencer; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Cremation is planned; memorial services for Ella Mae Chapman are planned for Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at 1:00PM; at Countryside Funeral Home- Johnson Chapel located at 101 N. Highland Chanute, KS 66720. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Odense Cemetery in Chanute. No formal visitation is planned; the family suggests memorials be made to Horizon Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home located at the above address.
