Elroy Archie Smith's Obituary
Elroy Archie Smith, 79, of Sedan, KS., passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at O.S.U. Medical Center in Tulsa. Elroy was born on October 18, 1946, in Shelbourne, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Walter E. and Marjorie (Barwell) Smith.
Elroy served in the United States Army and received his honorable discharge. On August 27, 1966, Elroy married JoAnn Cantwell, and she survives at their home. To this union thay had two children, and then came six Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren, a legacy that Elroy was proud of.
Elroy worked many years in construction in Wichita owning his own business with several employees. He then semi-retired to Sedan, Kansas.
In Sedan, Elroy worked as a Handyman, and enjoyed working in his shop, woodworking and doing various crafts with his grandchildren. He was a volunteer fire fighter, dedicated to helping others in need. He valued the time he got to go fishing and boating with family and friends. He was a member of the Cedar Vale American Legion Post 0201, and a member of the Chautauqua Baptist Church. A friend to many, a hero to others, a loved one to family that will greatly miss him.

Four Great Grandchildren: Nyssa, Beorn and Jameson Germann and Willhelm Owens.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Diane Smith, Jacqueline Corbin and Colin Smith
Cremation has been requested with a Celebration of Life service to be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Chautauqua Baptist Church in Chautauqua, KS. Memorials have been suggested to either the Chautauqua Baptist Church or the Sedan Fire Department and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
