Elsie May Jennings' Obituary
Elsie May Jennings, age 92, of rural Altoona, KS died at her home Friday, April 13, 2012. Elsie was born May 19, 1919 in rural Lyon County near Admire, Kansas, the daughter of Carl John and Amy Adelle (Ingraham) Boline.
Elsie completed the 8th grade at her rural school. After moving to Topeka to work, she attended night school, earning her high school diploma. She then attended Stormont Vail School of Nursing where she graduated as a registered nurse. On September 28, 1957, Elsie married Newton E. Jennings Jr., in Topeka, Kansas. They were married for 44 years until his death on December 23, 2001.
Elsie was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church and was involved with the Willing Workers unit at the historic Beacher Bible and Rifle Church. The last few years Elsie attended Living Word Assembly in Chanute. Elsie and Newt did not have children of their own but treated their nieces and nephews as their own.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters: Celia Goodspeed, Eunice Small and Lillian Knox, 2 brothers: Louis Gibson and Carrol Boline, and nephews: L. Neil Gibson, Carl Small and Tommy Knox.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Living Word Assembly in Chanute, KS with Pastor Jeremiah Wood officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow at the Wabaunsee Township Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Lynn Roth.
