Emilio Serrato's Obituary
Emilio Serrato, 82, of Chanute, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Emilio was born in Chanute on July 16, 1931, the son of Juan and Brigida (Oliva) Serrato. He attended school in Chanute.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Amelia Garcia on September 16, 1950 at St.
Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. She survives of the home.
Emilio worked as a laborer for the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed watching sports, especially the KU Jayhawks.
Emilio is survived by his wife Amelia of the home; two sisters, Esther Ortiz and Elisa Narvaez, both of Chanute; a brother, Alfred Serrato of Chanute; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Juanita Ortiz; and a brother, Serafin Serrato.
Cremation has taken place.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorials in his name may be made to the American Legion Veteran’s Memorial and may be left with the funeral home.
