Ernest Waldo Stanley Jr.'s Obituary
Ernest W. Stanley, Jr., age 89, of Humboldt, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at his home.
Ernest was born on May 8, 1927 in rural Independence, KS the son of Omer Ernest and Jessie (Green) Stanley. He grew up in the Independence area farming with his Dad before he was drafted into the United States Navy in August, 1945. He served from 1945-1946 as an F2c.
On May 12, 1948, Ernest married Norma Mae Hall in Independence, KS. Norma preceded him in death on July 1, 1988.
Ernest worked in the oil field upon discharge from the service and in his spare time he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and camping with all his family and friends. He worked for years as an Oil Field Superintendent until he retired in 1989. He was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; brothers, Omer, Lewis, and Glen; and sisters, Charlotte Augustine, Frances Shearheart, Lola Babb, and Jeanette Tucker.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home: 908 Central Humboldt, KS. A Funeral Service will be held at the Humboldt United Methodist Church in Humboldt, KS on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, KS. Military honors will be conducted by The Chanute Honor Guard. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
