Eunice Irene (Gibson) Breiner's Obituary
Eunice Irene Gibson Breiner of Chanute passed away March 2, 2015 at NMRMC in Chanute.
Daughter of Gillis G. and Erie Smith Gibson, was born December 2, 1921 at Inman, VA. Eunice attended Chanute High School.
Eunice was united in marriage to Hugh F. Breiner on October 14, 1940 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Chanute. They were blessed with 5 children: Carol Ann, Tom Clyde, Jane Faye, Jimmy Jay, and Dale Hugh.
Hugh preceded her in death in 1992.
Eunice was a homemaker and enjoyed her home until the time of her death. She enjoyed practicing her faith, socializing at Chanute Senior Center, quilting, playing cards and working puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carol Ann and son Dale, brothers: Elmer, Ed, Jerry and Gillis, sisters: Thelma Donaldson, Dodie Baker, Faye Melton, Annette McCoin and Jim Cole grandson-in-law.
Eunice is survived by Tom and Amy of Wake Forest, NC, Jane Lind and Jim of Chanute, Jimmy and Carol of Baxter Springs, KS and daughter-in-law Marcie Breiner Fanning, Bowling Green, KY, grandchildren: Dr. Jeff Breiner and Teresa of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Eidam and James of Jacksonville, FL, Karen Lind Russell and Shawn of Lenexa, KS, Jimmy Lind and Becky, Edgerton, KS, Michael Lind and Tina of Overland Park, KS, Marvina Cole, of Rogers, AR, and Rhonda Willis and Larry of Pittsburg, KS, great grandchildren: Ella, Ben, Lilly Breiner, Taylor Ann and Caden Eidam. Bella and Meggie Russell, Mikey, Mable, Rickey Lind. Staff Sgt. of the US Army Tony and Kara Cole, of Ft Riley, KS, Amanda Jo and Zack Garner, Second Lt. of the US Army Kristina Willis of Afghanistan, Ashley and Elizabeth Willis, great-great grandchildren: Landon, Tristen, Jaiden Cole, sisters: Geneva Bonham, Meridian Idaho, Billie Wells, Grand Junction Co. brother-in-law Earl Breiner, Vista, CA and sister-in-laws: Mary Breiner Robb, Tulsa, OK and Eleanor Gibson Raines of Chanute and many nieces and nephews that will always remember her warm hugs and smiles.
Rosary will take place Friday, March 6, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Family will meet with friends following Rosary at the Parish Center. Mass of Christian Burial for Eunice is planned for Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the St. Patrick’s Altar Society and may be sent in care of Countryside Funeral Home 101 N. Highland Chanute, KS 66720.
