Faye Lenora Pruitt's Obituary
Faye Lenora (Peacock) Pruitt, 100, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Heritage Healthcare in Chanute. Faye was born on June 27, 1915 in Peek, Oklahoma the daughter of Louia and Rhoda (Clifton) Peacock.
After finishing school Faye married Oren Hazen in 1933 and they had 4 children together. They later divorced. On April 8, 1950 Faye married Earl Pruitt Sr. and they had 3 children together. Earl preceded Faye in death.
Faye work as a seamstress for 29 years at the overall factory in Chanute. Faye enjoyed spending time gardening, cooking and canning, sewing and quilting, and fishing. She was known for how good her buttery peanut brittle was and her hand stitched quilts shared with many. Faye most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and all of her grandchildren.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons: Leon and Lonnie Hazen; a daughter, Otheda Hartin; a step son, Delbert Pruitt; a step daughter, Charlotte Hestdalen; two brothers: John and Norman Peacock and a sister Enola Hodgden.
She is survived by her children: Earl Pruitt Jr. and wife Carolyn of Chanute, Roger Pruitt and wife Jeanette of Chanute, Earla Allen and husband Robert of Chanute, Oleta Schooley and husband Don of Topeka; step children: Floyd Pruitt, Mary Lou Hines, Ruth Ang and Delories Breville; 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Stark Methodist Church in Stark, KS. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 5-6 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel, 101 N. Highland in Chanute. Interment will be in Walnut Cemetery in Walnut, KS.
Family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS.
