Flossie Emma Taylor's Obituary
Flossie Emma Taylor, 96, went to her heavenly home while surrounded by her family on December 13, 2014. She was a resident of Guest Home Estates in Chanute.
Flossie was born in Chanute on January 4, 1918, the daughter of Arthur Edwin and Edna C. Underhill Turner. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Chanute.
She was united in marriage to Willis F. Taylor in June 7, 1937. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1989.
She was an accomplished seamstress and supervisor at the dress factory and overall factory in Chanute for several years.
Flossie was a lifelong member of the United Brethren in Christ Church in Chanute. (Now the New Life United Brethren Church in Chanute.)
She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, and delighting in her family. She also enjoyed watching KU basketball. She loved her church and devoted her life to serving and witnessing for the Lord. Flossie’s family regarded her as their Angel on Earth and appreciated her ongoing words of inspiration and prayers of love and support. Everyone who met her thought she was a special lady.
Flossie is survived by her only son, Gary L. Taylor, and wife Linda; grandsons Todd and wife Jennifer, Brian and wife Melinda; great granddaughters Ashley Taylor and finance Jake Webb; Haley Taylor and Dillon Wolverton; great great granddaughter Briley Nicole Webb; one sister Mary Chase, Lawrence; one brother John Turner, Wichita; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers Marvin Turner, Edwin Turner, Jr., Max Turner, Gerald Turner; two sisters Luella Taylor, Velma Grogan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5-7 p.m., at Countryside Funeral Home-Johnson Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 1:30 p.m. at the New Life United Brethren Church in Chanute.
