Frances Jean Elston's Obituary
Frances Jean Elston, 81, of Pittsburg, KS passed away Wednesday June 5, 2024 at her residence
with her family by her side. Frances was born on July 30, 1942 in Binger, Oklahoma to Loren and
Ora (Shuffield) Drake. She grew up in Oklahoma, along with 5 siblings which she helped her mother
care for after her father and grandfather were killed in an automobile accident. This created
a sense of responsibility in her that followed her throughout her life.
Frances graduated from Howard High School in 1960, went on to marry and have 3 children which
she worked several jobs throughout her life to support . She was a marvelous cook and
the neighborhood kids loved to have their supper at her house.
When Frances' health failed, she moved in with her son Joe and he helped take care of her until
her passing.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, sister Ora Aleta Huntington and brother Larry Dean Drake.

Bob Drake and wife Tami
3 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, with a Great Grandchild on the way.
Funeral Services will be held at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas on June 15th, 2024 at 11:00am and the family will be accepting people an hour prior for visitation.
Interment to follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, KS. Memorial contributions can be made
to Howard Fire Department, and can be left with or mailed to the Funeral Home at 206 E. Washington PO Box 1233, Howard, Kansas 673
