Frances Elizabeth "Liz" Gritz's Obituary
Frances Elizabeth “Liz” (Billups) Gritz, age 75, a resident of El Dorado, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on October 30, 1938 in West Plains, Missouri the daughter of Edward Everett and Jenny Irene (Woods) Billups.
Liz worked in the food service industry for many years and she retired as the food supervisor from the Butler County Correctional Facility. She made quilts and enjoyed crocheting making things like dolls, hats and house slippers. Liz loved camping, playing bingo, cards and board games with friends, family and her children. She was mechanically inclined and once rebuilt a carburetor with her son Roger on the kitchen table.
Liz is survived by her sons, Roger Gritz of El Dorado, Kansas; Jerry Gritz of Topeka, Kansas and Rick Gritz of El Dorado, Kansas; daughters, Sherry Smith of Sedalia, Missouri and Brenda Collins of Troy, Missouri, brother Jim Billups of Viola, Kansas, sister Cleola “Cle” Ankerholtz of Augusta, Kansas, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Countryside Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Elk Falls Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
