Garland Edward "Gary" Manbeck's Obituary
Garland Edward “Gary” Manbeck, age 71, of Chanute, KS passed away Monday July 21, 2014 at his home.
Gary was born on December 8, 1942 in Moran, KS to Edward & Lorraine (Canfield) Manbeck. He graduated from Moran Rural High in 1960.
On January 19, 1962 he married Judy Ruxton at Mildred Methodist Church in Mildred, KS. Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator for Ash Grove Cement Company. Gary participated with bowling leagues, recreation basketball, church softball, and Methodist Men. Gary was also involved with Boys Scout, coached his sons’ baseball teams, volunteered at the R.S.V.P group at Chanute High School and is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chanute.
Gary is survived by his wife Judy; three sons, Scott A. Manbeck and wife Sally of Humboldt, KS, Keith Manbeck and wife Tracy of Gardner, KS, Monte Manbeck and wife Stacy of Thayer, KS; grandchildren Katie Smith and husband Nathan, Jacob, Mark, Kevin, Lori, Marissa, Kyler, and
Mason Manbeck; and sister Kathy Ryan of Cypress, TX.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lorraine.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute, KS. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mildred, KS.
Family suggests memorials to be given to First United Methodist Church Chanute or Chanute Senior Center. Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. On-line condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
