George Goltry's Obituary
George Goltry age 89 of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away at Arrowood Lane in Humboldt on Monday, September 2, 2014. George was born the son of David E. and Jenny M. (Walker) Goltry on August 31, 1925 in Chanute, KS.
George graduated from Vilas Rural School in 1944. After high school George went on to join the U.S. Army and served in WWII. After serving in the Army, George married Margaret Jessica in September of 1947. George then went to work for Ash Grove Cement Company as a lab tester for over 40 years. George also loved farming, fishing and reading.
George is survived by a son; Larry Goltry and wife Mabel of Luther, OK, sister; Betty Payne, four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by her parents David and Jenny, wife; Margaret, a son; Robin Goltry, three brothers; Gordon Goltry, Daniel Goltry, and George’s twin brother Joe Goltry, three sisters; Ina Gamble, Donna Myers, and Emma Chickadonz.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 from 5-7p.m., at Countryside Funeral Home-Johnson Chapel. Graveside service will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Family suggests memorials to the American Legion and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
