George Edward Hedges Jr.'s Obituary
George Edward Hedges Jr, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2015. George was born on July 21, 1921 in Wichita, KS to George Edward Hedges Sr. and Ruth Bowman Fawbush.
On December 2, 1941 George joined the United States Marine Corp at age 17 before graduating high school. He went on to serve in World War II. After the war he finished high school and went to the University of Evansville. He worked in the oil business as an oil driller for 50 years. George married Ruby Shepard on February 17, 1978 in Port Isobel, TX. George was a member of the VFW, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Ruby, Step son; Jerry Sloan, daughter; Sherri Hedges Gardner, step daughter; Connie Brandes, sons; Jack and Bryan Hedges. 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Bettye (Payton) Partridge.
There will be a graveside service Tuesday June 16, 2015 at 2:00p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, KS. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
