George Henry Dillon Jr's Obituary
George Henry Dillon Jr., age 84, a resident of Elk Falls, Kansas and formerly of Centropolis, Kansas passed away January 12, 2010 at his home. He was born on September 21, 1925 in rural Douglas County, Kansas the son of George Henry and Lola (Ikenberry) Dillon of Pomona, Kansas.
He grew up in the Pomona area and graduated from Appanoose High School in 1943. On June 25, 1947 George was united in marriage to Erma June Clark in Ottawa, Kansas. They shared over fifty three years of marriage together. Mr. Dillon and his wife farmed and dairied from 1947 until their retirement in 1988. Following their retirement, they moved to Elk Falls, Kansas.
Mr. Dillon is survived by four daughters; Lucinda Ann Schroeder and husband Ray of Tecumseh, Kansas, Wynona Kay Koehn and husband Boyd of Elk Falls, Kansas, Patricia Lynn Luetje and husband Bruce of Topeka, Kansas and Tonya Leah Swinehart and husband Joe of Lyndon, Kansas, two brothers Robert Dillon and wife Lois and Richard Dillon all of Pomona, Kansas, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Erma and an infant son Winifred George Dillon.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM Monday, January 18, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Elk Falls, Kansas and at 2:30 PM at the Centropolis Christian Church in Centropolis, Kansas. Family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at Zimmerman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Centropolis. Family suggests contributions to the Elk Falls United Methodist Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
