Gerald Dean Dannels' Obituary
Gerald Dean “Jerry” Dannels, age 72, a resident of Toronto, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012. Gerald was born on April 29, 1940 in Altoona, KS the son of Guy Franklin and Estella (Lewellen) Dannels.
Gerald was a graduate of Altoona High School class of 1958. In December of 1962 he married Leona Solomon and they later divorced.
For 32 years, Gerald worked for the K.D.O.T. as a heavy equipment operator. He attended the Toronto Baptist Church, “Smith’s Church.” In his spare time, he either played or umpired baseball. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting and trapping. He was a charter member of the Kansas Fur Harvesters Association, N.R.A., and National Trappers Association. Gerald also served on the Toronto city council for one and half terms.

Richard Dannels of Independence, MO
Numerous nieces and nephews
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Robert L. Dannels and three sisters; Bonnie Jepson, Helen Wiles, and Mary Anne Waggoner.
Cremation has been requested. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to the Kansas Fur Harvesters Association and may be left with the funeral home.
