Glendora F. Brindle's Obituary
Glendora Brindle, age 95, of Fredonia died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Golden Living Center of Fredonia. Glendora was born July 4, 1915 in Middleton, Kansas near Coyville the daughter of Edward and Jessie (Williams) Fitzmorris.
Glendora attended Ottawa University for two years and was awarded a Lifetime Kansas Teaching Certificate. She returned to Fredonia and taught four years in rural schools. Being a lifelong learner, she graduated from Neosho Community College when she was in her seventies.
In 1939 Glendora married Leland Studebaker Brindle, and they began farming. She and Leland traveled extensively in the United States and abroad when they had the opportunity. They were married for 44 years until his death of October 7, of 1983. Glendora was a social worker for Wilson County from 1965 to 1985.
Two of Glendora’s greatest accomplishments for the community were the writing of the grants to start the Fredonia Day Care Center and the Thanks Program. Glendora was an active volunteer and enjoyed participating in social and career organizations. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Three Great Granddaughters:
Malia, Brindle, and Cecily Lieurance.
She was “Aunt Dody†to generations of nieces and nephews. Her devoted friend Lyle, who cares for her dog friends, Crissy and Shelby.
Glendora was preceded in death by; parents, husband Leland, daughter Cathy Brindle, sisters Francis Counterman, Wilma Atwell, Marie Haskell, Flossie Short, and brother Dennis Fitzmorris.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11: 00 A.M. on Thursday, October 21, 2010, with Rosary held at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fredonia, with burial to follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Countryside Funeral Home. Memorials have been suggested to the Sacred Heart Altar Society or the Fredonia Day Care Center and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
