Glenn A. Hartwig's Obituary
Glenn Allen Hartwig, age 52, of Chanute, Kansas passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at his home. Glenn was born on December 26, 1963 in Putnam, Connecticut, the son of Billie Eugene and Ethel (Bugbee) Hartwig.
On December 26, 1991, Glenn married Anne (Orozco) in Yates Center, Kansas. From this marriage, three children were born, Damen, Dannah, and Dane Hartwig.
Glenn was a member of St. Pat’s Catholic Church in Chanute, KS. He was a hard worker and spent numerous years at Nu-Wa before starting work at Monarch Cement Company in Humboldt, KS. He worked there the last 15 years before taking early retirement due to illness in January of this year. He was very responsible and dedicated to his work and family, but a kid at heart who loved having fun and was known as a prankster. Glenn was a family man, the best husband and dad. He loved the simple things in life such as spending time in the country and fishing with his family. His very first true love was football and watching his favorite team the Pittsburg Steelers on game days. He participated with the Chanute Youth Football Club and enjoyed spending time coaching his children in various activities. He was very competitive and managed to turn everything into a competition. He continued with that competitive spirit right up until his passing where he fought hard until the very end.
Glenn is survived by wife, Anne Hartwig; mother, Ethel Hartwig; children, Damen Hartwig, Dannah Hartwig and Dane Hartwig; brothers, Mark Hartwig and his wife Karen of Yates Center, KS and Billie Hartwig Jr. of Yates Center, KS; sisters, Cheryl Cook and her husband Robin of Chanute, KS and Jo-Ann Curtis and her husband Wade of Yates Center, KS; uncles, Charlie and Helen Hartwig of Humboldt, KS and Neil Hartwig of Humboldt, KS; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Billie Hartwig Sr.
A Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home – Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. A rosary will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Pat’s Catholic Church in Chanute, KS, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow directly at St. Pat’s Catholic Cemetery in Chanute, KS.
