Glenn Don Miller's Obituary
Glenn Don Miller, (GD to his friends), age 98, a longtime resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas. He was born on January 6, 1915 in Severy, Kansas the son of Jesse Howard and Martha (Jolly) Miller.
On October 10, 1937 Glenn was united in marriage to Pauline M. Monical in Coffeyville, Kansas. In May 1943 Glenn served his country in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in November 1945. He moved back to Howard and started as a bookkeeper and ended up as the President of the First National Bank. He was on the board of directors when he died. Glenn was an enthusiastic member of the community and was involved in the Howard United Methodist Church, Rotary, Lion’s Club, American Legion, Boy Scout’s Association, Odd Fellows, Elk County Fair Association, Co-Chairman for the Red Cross, Howard School Board, West Elk Treasurer for 26 years, City Council, Chamber of Commerce and on the HUD Housing Board.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 75 years Pauline Monical Miller of the home, one son Stephen Miller and wife Sherry Riegel Miller of Cypress, Texas, one daughter Marilyn Miller Ewing and husband Steve Ewing of Lenexa, Kansas, one sister Nellie Clark of Augusta, Kansas and two grandchildren, Michael Miller and Anna Ewing. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Dorothy Miller and Helen Rader and two brothers Willis Miller and Charles Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Howard United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Cryderman officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery. Family suggests contributions be made to the Howard United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolence may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.
