Grace I Humphries' Obituary
Grace Isabelle Humphries, 86, of Grenola, died Sunday April 13, 2008 at Twilight Manor in Howard. She was born May 25, 1921 in Cedar Vale, KS, the daughter of George Ervine and Cora Belle (Comer) Mattocks.
Grace graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1939. On October 10, 1942 she married Ellis F. Humphries in Augusta, KS. Grace worked at the Cudahy Packing Company for a short time prior to her and Ellis moving to Mountain Air, NM. They soon returned to Grenola, KS in 1945 where she worked as a homemaker. Ellis and Grace were married for 53 years until his death of April 10, 1996.
Grace was a member of the Grenola Christian Church. In her spare time, she like going to auctions and yard sales, she liked to crochet, make “Rag Rugsâ€, and was a very good artist.

Jessica Humphries, Wichita, KS
Melissa Reeves, Denton, TX
Great Granddaughter Destiny Reeves and Great Grandson Hayden Vittitow, a special neice, Carolyn Hill
She was preceded in death by: Parents, two sons, Ellis F and Roland Humphries, three sisters, Edith Napier, Ruby Warring, and Evelyn Williamson; one brother Albia (Bus) Mattocks, one granddaughter, Tanya Humphries
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 17, 2008 at the Grenola Christian Church at 10:30 am, with Pastor Gary Bowles officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 am until service time. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola. The family suggests memorial contribution to the Grenola Historical Society or the Grenola Public Library, and can be mailed to Countryside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247 Fredonia, KS 66736.
