Harold Dean Haines' Obituary
H. Dean Haines, age 91, of Chanute, KS passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at the home of his son Kerry in Fredonia, KS. Dean was born January 29, 1925 in Chanute, the son of William and Minnie (Brown) Haines.
He graduated from Vilas Country School. Dean joined the United States Navy in 1943 and served his country until 1946 achieving the rank of Seaman 1st Class. On May 17, 1946 he married the love of his life, Mary Burin in Yates Center, KS. He attended school in St. Louis and earned his degree as a master Electrician. Dean owned and operated Haines Electric in Chanute, and worked for the oil fields, until his retirement. Dean was a life member of the American Legion Boerstler-May Post #170, a life member of the Blue Lodge AF & AM Mason’s, and a life member of the Shriner’s. He also belonged to the VFW, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Elks, and the MG Club. Dean restored his MG for use with the Shriner’s and Dean and Mary took many trips in the MG.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, and four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his sons; Ranndy Haines and wife Shirley of Chanute and Kerry Haines and wife Paula of Fredonia, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a celebration of his life April 2nd at 6 p.m. at the American Legion in Chanute.
