Harold Ray Karr's Obituary
Harold Ray Karr, 68 of La Harpe, Kansas passed away at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Harold Ray Karr was born on November 15, 1955 in Iola, Kansas to Alfred and Betty (Hambrick) Karr. He attended the Iola school system. Harold worked 24 years at D of K Vault then retired from Gates Corporation in 2020. On April 21, 1976, Harold married Marsha Chapman in Iola, Kansas. The two were married 44 years until her passing in 2021. Through the years Harold and Marsha welcomed two children, Nicole and Michael.
Harold was a member of the Iola Elks and a member of the La Harpe Methodist Church until the church closed. Harold was an avid outdoorsman. He loved doing projects outside, playing with his dog Daisey, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many of days Harold could be found sitting at the local gas stations reading the newspaper and drinking coffee. Many will remember the times gathering at Harold’s enjoying the smoked meat dinners he prepared for everyone. Harold loved to fire up the smoker and prepare a feast for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Marsha Karr, son, Michael Karr, parents, Alfred and Betty Karr, brother, Kenneth Karr, and sisters, Joan Zornes, Linda Parks, and Carol Long.
Harold’s memory will carry on with his daughter, Nicole Perez, 7 grandchildren, Alexis, Alaina, Mathew, Joseph, Noah, Eli, and Kasen and 5 great grandchildren. The family will hold a Memorial Service for Harold on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:00 am at the La Harpe Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Nicole Perez to help offset funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the guidance of Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute, Kansas.
