Harry Clifford Chandler's Obituary
Harry C. Chandler, age 97, a resident of Severy, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Harry Hynes Hospice Unit in Wichita, Kansas. Harry was born October 7, 1911 in Springdale, Arkansas the son of Barry and Virginia (Ellis) Chandler.
On August 11, 1936 Harry married Charlotte Mae Cummings in Wichita, Kansas and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2002. Harry owned and operated his own trucking company. He was a member of the Sunflower Masonic Lodge in Wichita, Kansas and also a member of the Teamsters when he worked for J. T. Transport in the 1950’s. In his spare time Harry enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by four sons; Harry Chandler Jr. of Chula Vista, California, Jack Chandler of Severy, Kansas, Jerry Chandler of Fayettville, Georgia, and David Chandler of Wichita, Kansas, one daughter Judy Kittman of Zapata, Texas, fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Private interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery. Family suggest contributions to the American Lung Association and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences at www.countrysidefh.com.
