I had the joy of teaching Hayden English in high school. He was such a fun, quietly benevolent presence in the classroom. He didn't talk much, but it was clear he had a rich inner world. His writing was always interesting to read, and I enjoyed it very much. I wish I could remember specific things to share. He often brought his band instrument to class.
I ran into him a couple of times once he was in college. He was the same wonderful, pleasant, quietly humorous person as always. I am very proud of him. He seemed the type of person who is just good to know. I wish his family and friends the very best. I cannot imagine the loss. Hayden will always be remembered warmly.
