Helen "Lucille" Frankenbery's Obituary
Helen Lucille Frankenbery, 97, of Chanute, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Lucille was born in Ridgeway, Missouri on November 24, 1916, the daughter of Ike and Bertha (Provin) Cole. She attended Altoona High School, graduating in 1934.
On January 1, 1935, she was united in marriage to Herschel Frankenbery in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. They moved to Chanute in 1944. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1980.
Lucille worked as a checker at the A&P Grocery Store and later at other food markets.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Chanute and was active in the 50/50 Class, Guild, and Evening with Friends.
Lucille is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Sid Hicks, Southern Pines, NC and Joyce and Mike Ray, Derby, KS; grandchildren, Gwen Collins, Bel Air, MD, Douglas Hicks, Reisterstown MD, Stacie Campbell, Georgetown, TX, and Rebecca Buchanan, Levittown, PA; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herschel; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Chanute led by Reverend Tom Eastman. Burial will follow in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel.
Memorials may be made to The First Christian Church in Chanute and may be left with the funeral home.
