Helen L. Cunningham's Obituary
Helen L. Cunningham, age 87, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her home. She was born in Neodesha, Kansas on August 4, 1923 the daughter of Robert and Mae (Little) Shue.
In June of 1941 Helen was united in marriage to Wayne Cunningham in Fredonia, Kansas. Helen was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia.
During her lifetime Helen always worked hard to support her 11 children and to provide them with a loving home, sometimes working three jobs to accomplish this. She owned and operated Peter Pan Ice Cream Store in Fredonia for many years. She currently worked at SKIL as a receptionist. She was hard-working and dedicated, and everything she did, she did for her family. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was evident to all who knew her.
Helen is survived by seven sons: Larry Cunningham of Wichita, Kansas, Jerry Cunningham of Fredonia, Kansas, Tom Cunningham of Wichita, Kansas, Tim Cunningham of Neodesha, Kansas, Randy Cunningham of Basehor, Kansas, Rick Cunningham of Phoenix, Arizona and Tony Cunningham of Cheney, Kansas, three daughters: Kristy Lee of Cheney, Kansas, Marilyn Kimzey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Debby Reed of Fredonia, Kansas, one sister Mable Plemmons of Modesto, California, 22 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, one son Terry Cunningham, 3 grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church, in Fredonia, with Pastor Milo Steffen officiating. Interment will be held at Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home.
