Helen Virginia Sanborn's Obituary
Helen Virginia Sanborn, age 92, a resident of Howard, Kansas and formerly of Caney, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at St. Francis Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was born August 13, 1919 in Caney, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Ruth Marie (Maugan) Sterling.
On January 18, 1941, Helen was united in marriage to Ormand Cyrus Sanborn in Sedan, Kansas. Helen’s love for children was witnessed by the many years she volunteered as a crossing guard in Caney and the many children she baby-sat in Caney and Howard. She was a very good cook and she enjoyed sewing and made several lap blankets for the nursing home.
Helen is survived by one daughter Donna Dellinger and her husband Jerry of Howard, Kansas, two grandsons; Phil Dellinger and his wife Debbie of Haysville, Kansas and Ron Dellinger of Howard, Kansas, two great grandchildren; Cap Caplan and Autumn Caplan both of Haysville, Kansas and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ormand, one brother, four sisters and one great grandchild Joel Adams.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Family suggests memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Howard Twilight Manor and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
