Henrietta Myrle Whitson, age 88, of Chanute, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Chanute, Kansas. Henrietta was born on July 3, 1927 in Rural Altoona, KS the daughter of Earl and Zenella (Reeve) Dannels.
On September 15, 1942, Henrietta married Lamar E. Whitson Sr. in Erie, KS. Lamar preceded her in death on August 14, 2006.
Henrietta was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a foster mother. She was a hard working homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist church in Thayer.

Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lamar; daughter, Karen Sue Varndell; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Chanute, KS on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, Gibson Chapel. Interment will be at Harrison Cemetery in Rural Thayer. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the Thayer Seventh-Day Adventist Church for the Youth Group and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
