Theresa, I'm so sorry for your loss, prayers to you and your family.
So sorry to hear. Blessings to all for comfort and strength.
Wanted to start by saying what a great man JR was, loved by all.
JR & Debbie took me in when I was 12 years old, JR was only 18 so you can imagine the trouble we got into. We didn’t always agree on everything but back then we always made up after a wrestling match or fist fight. He taught me most of lifes lessons good & bad. I have got a million stories but here are a couple that we always fondly remembered.
JR had this old Ford truck, 3 speed on the column, we stopped at the stop sign and the shifter stuck in between gears so he just leaned back & kicked the windshield out & told me the truck is yours (you all know I am leaving out some colorful language) he then just got out of the truck & walked home.
Once when we lived in Missouri, out on a farm he bought me an old 305 Honda, it wouldn’t start so he got the bright idea to tie a rope to the handlebars and the other end to the back of his pick up then have Debbie pull him to try & start it. Well Debbie popped the clutch on the truck and it threw JR off the motorcycle. She dragged the motorcycle down the gravel road with us running behind yelling for her to stop – well she finally did when she got back to the house!
When Sharie & I were planning our wedding back in 1980, sitting around the table like always at JR & Debbies, JR suggests why don’t you just get married on July 26 that way you can remember the anniversary date because it was on his birthday – and that is the date we picked.
JR & I worked together most of our lives, from the farm, the oil field and working on & racing stock cars and just any and everything mechanical.
I could always count on him. JR has been in my life all these years, he was like a father to me and best friend at the same time. I am going to miss seeing him every week, life will be a mess for awhile but memories of him will get me through for the rest of my life.
Love you JR, may you rest in peace.
