Ila Mae Carter's Obituary
Ila Mae Carter, age 91 of Chanute, KS, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Neosho Memorial Medical Center. Ila was born on May 4, 1926 in Humboldt, KS, the daughter of Murle D. and Katherine (Huffmaster) Booe.
On July 30, 1950, Ila married Everett Carter at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Humboldt, KS. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2008 after 58 years of marriage.
Ila was a homemaker and a dedicated wife and mother. She was a people-person, known for giving lots of hugs and kisses and was loved by all who knew her. In her spare time, Ila enjoyed watching birds, squirrels and her beloved Kansas City sports teams, the Royals and the Chiefs. She also enjoyed watching gameshows, especially Family Feud with Steve Harvey hosting. Ila had a contagious smile, a feisty attitude, and a heart of gold and favored spending time with her kids and grandkids above everything else. She volunteered for the Wilson County Election Board for many years and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute, KS.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett; and sister, Doris Sandage.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home-Gibson Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow and burial will be held privately at a later date.
