Inez Lucille Berthot's Obituary
Inez Lucille Berthot, age 99, of Chanute KS, passed away on October 31, 2018 in Topeka, KS. Inez was born on May 25, 1919 on the family farm east of Chanute, KS the daughter of Vern and Hilda (Frederick) Lock.
Inez graduated from Chanute High School in 1935. On May 27, 1936 she married Wayne Berthot in Pawhuska, OK. He preceded her in death in 1994. Inez worked as a cook for the Fairfield School east of Chanute for several years and she and Wayne also owned an upholstery business. She was a 4-H leader and started 4-H in 1929. Inez enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting and volunteering at St. Patrick Thrift Store. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club, Altar Society and St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne; son, Gary Berthot; daughter, Carol Haas; brother, Everett Lock; sister, Urla Lock; step sister, Betty Mitchell; a grandson, 2 granddaughters and a great-great granddaughter.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 9-10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Chanute. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to St. Patrick Catholic School, Christ the King Catholic Church, Great Lakes Caring Hospice or Alzheimer’s Research Foundation and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
