Inez Louise Hoyt's Obituary
Inez Louise Hoyt, 102, homemaker and retired postal clerk passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at Inverness Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at Longton Cemetery, Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
Inez was born September 12, 1912 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Charles W. and Caroline B. (Geiger) Wagner. After the death of Charles in 1913, Caroline married George R. McMahon. The family moved to Manhattan, Kansas where George attended K-State. The family moved to Attica, Kansas where they established a poultry hatchery. Inez graduated from Attica High School and attended K-State in Manhattan, Kansas.
Inez Louise McMahon and Lee Lewis Hoyt were united in marriage on November 30, 1933. They farmed near Attica until moving to near Dexter, Kansas in 1941. They moved to Longton, Kansas in 1948 and farmed near there until retiring to Orlando, Florida in 1973. They returned to Longton in 1989 to be near family and lived there until October 2006 when they moved to Inverness Village in Tulsa.
She is survived by a son; Jack and wife Velva of Longton, a sister; Georgeanna Grubb of Alexandria, Louisiana, grandson; Dr. Brad Hoyt and his wife Leslie of Tulsa, great grandchildren; Blaine of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lauren of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Hunter of Tulsa, and several nieces and nephews. Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, parents, step-father and a sister Eileen.
Memorials may be made to either the Longton Senior Center or Saint Francis Hospice of Tulsa and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countysidefh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home in Howard.
