Rev and Mrs Van Meter will always be "my home church pastors" because they served for so many years at the church I grew up in. Mrs Van Meter had an amazing gift/ministry of hospitality. I remember Rev Van Meter putting in what seemed like a HUGE garden and Mrs Van Meter fed anyone and everyone that dropped by....in my memory there was ALWAYS someone dropping by their home. She took it all in stride, continuing to manage her home seemingly without effort in the presence of constant guests. Another memory I have is that every so often our church would have "specials" service. This would be a time for different members of the congregation to express their talents. Mrs Van Meter would put on spellbinding one-woman skits. She was an amazing actress. I also remember her as a wonderful mother who loved children.
