J. W. Friend's Obituary
J. W. Friend, age 82 of Fredonia, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Neodesha. He was born on October 31, 1931 in Okemah, OK, the only son of John William and Eva Bell (Russell) Friend.
On May 11, 1971 at Las Vegas, Nevada he married Kari Pierce. J. W. and Kari were married for 43 years and she survives at their home.
J. W. was an avid outdoorsman he loved to hunt, fish and trap. He was very adventuress and enjoyed going to the desert for motocross events, riding dirt bikes and off road sports. He and Kari also owned and operated the Bird Farm south of Fredonia.
J. W. was a 62 year member of the United Association of Pipefitters, Steamfitters, and Riggers, Local Union #250 out of Las Angeles, California he was initiated in on July 15, 1952. From 1974 to 1976 J. W. worked on the Alaskan Pipe Line.

J. W. was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children Jerry Wayne Friend and Jackie Marie Friend, and 1 granddaughter Robin Friend
Cremation has been requested and a memorial service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia.
