Jackie Dean Millikan's Obituary
Jackie Dean “Jack” Millikan, age 76 of Buffalo, KS, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019. Jack was born on April 25, 1942 in Rockport, Missouri the son of Don and Freida (Voltmer) Millikan. He graduated from Shenadoah Iowa High School in 1960 and then went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1960-1964. He worked as a journey lineman for power companies after leaving the service.
On November 11, 1978, Jack married Marilyn Chapman in Buffalo, KS. Jack loved his family dearly and they had several nicknames for him: Jackie Moon, Pappa Jack, Tickle Monster and Uncle Jack. He was a friend to everyone and was loved by so many. He loved all sports but he especially loved watching Nebraska football. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Chanute, the Elks Club and the American Legion.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Mike Millikan of Fremont, NE and Todd Millikan and wife Carey of Shenadoah, Iowa; daughter, Monica Byrne and husband Tom of Oswego, IL; brother, Jerry Millikan and wife Karon of Red Oak, Iowa; sister, Karon “Kay” Spears and husband LeRoy of Shenadoah, Iowa. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Michaela Millikan, Maggie and Caroline Byrne, Matthew, Paige, Cambre and Jerney Millikan and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Dawn Millikan.
Cremation has been requested. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Buffalo United Methodist Church in Buffalo, KS. Burial will follow the service at Buffalo Cemetery. The Chanute Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders will be in charge of military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Buffalo United Methodist Church or Grace Episcopal Church in Chanute and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
