James Eugene Allen's Obituary
James Allen, age 64 of Grenola, KS, passed away peacefully at his home September 24, 2023 with family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jayne Allen; his sons, Tim Allen and wife Mary of Dubai, Garrett Allen and wife Melinda of Grenola, and Randy Allen and wife Kari of Moline; 8 grandchildren who will miss him greatly. Also surviving are his sister, Diana Bales of Austin, TX, and brother, Robert Allen and wife Susan of Ore City, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Dee Allen of Hawkins, TX.
James grew up in a military family, moving many times in his early years. The family settled in Midland, TX, where James graduated High School in 1978. James and Jayne met in Midland; later moving to Gaylord, Michigan to raise their sons. They returned to Texas after their sons graduated school. In 2008, they bought and renovated a family home in Grenola, KS. James retired in 2020.
James loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family. His grandchildren were a constant joy to him.
The family will receive friends at visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, KS.
Memorial contributions to honor James can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
