James Clair Davis Sr.'s Obituary
James C. Davis, Sr., 84, of Eucha, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at his home.
Jim was born in Chanute, Kansas on November 13, 1929, the son of Fay Edgar “F.E.” and Velta Maria (Ballinger) Davis. He attended schools in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Gregory in July 1947 in Chanute. They had two children, Bonnie Faye and James Clair Jr. He later married Carol Jane McDonald on April 15, 1967 in Chanute. They had three children, Marietta, Yolanda and Bryan.
Jim worked with his grandfather, C.A. Davis and his father at Davis Pipe and Supply. He later worked and retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
He was a member of the Elks and was a 3rd Degree Mason.
When Jim and Carol retired in 1997, they moved to Grand Lake. They stayed busy volunteering at the Jay Senior Citizens Center.
Jim is survived by his sons, James C. Davis Jr. and his wife Patty of Chanute and Bryan Stewart Davis of Parsons, KS; daughters, Marietta Carol Davis and her husband Darracq Patrick of Pittsburg, KS, and Yolanda Marie Petty and her husband Robert of Eucha, OK; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy; wife Carol; daughter Bonnie Faye Deering; and granddaughter Stacie Plumley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Countryside Johnson Chapel in Chanute.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
