James "Dick" Richard Dunham's Obituary
James “Dick” Richard Dunham, 88, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on July 31, 2026. He was born in Stark, KS on November 25, 1937.
He graduated from Grant Township Rural High School and Kansas State University. He farmed in the Stark area and then returned to Kansas State to complete his Masters and PhD. Dick was a Dairy Extension Specialist for 29 years at KSU. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, dancing and traveling.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his parents Odin and Elma Dunham, and his sister Rosella Hillbrant. He is survived by his children Laura Engels (Gale) and Doug Dunham (Susan), his grandkids Josh Engels (Julie), Ashley Lierz (Sean), Lindsey Peth (Dan), Tim Dunham (Sarah), Ryan Engels (Josie), and Mike Dunham. He also has 4 great grandkids, Max, Addie, Harper and Mace.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 10 at 10:00 am at Stark United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the East Hill Cemetery in Erie, KS. A visitation with family will be held Sunday, August 9, from 4:00-6:00 at Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home.
