James "Jim" William Carter's Obituary
James “Jim” William Carter, age 81, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Chanute. Jim was born on July 3, 1936 in Chanute, KS the son of William A. and Helen (Allen) Carter.
Jim graduated from Chanute High School in 1954. He married Martha Ann VanVickle on October 20, 1956 in Miami, OK. Jim worked as a manager for Hudson’s Service Station for 39 years. After retirement, Jim worked as a currier for Community National Bank for about 5 years. He enjoyed working outside especially during the summer months and also enjoyed hanging out with his buddies. Jim was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW and a member Elks #806. He will be greatly missed.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Carter.
Cremation has been requested.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 2-3 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Gibson Chapel 16 N. Forest, Chanute, KS. The family will have a celebration of life service on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at the VFW, 1654 W. Main in Chanute. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
