Janet Hadlock's Obituary
Avis Janet Hadlock, age 77 of Longton, KS, passed away December 5, 2024 at Andover Court

Known to family and friends as Janet, she was born December 10, 1946 in Independence, KS to
Ralph and Vada (Towery) Kimzey. She grew up on the Kimzey family farm south of Longton
alongside her six siblings, graduating from Longton High School in 1964.
Janet furthered her education at Pittsburg State University for a year, before marrying her high
school sweetheart, Roger Hadlock on September 5, 1965 at the Longton Baptist Church. They
enjoyed 45 years together before Roger passed in 2010. After their wedding, Janet joined Roger in
Golden, Colorado where she worked at a fabric store and Roger worked at a mountain mine. One
of their favorite things to do was to take Jeep trips up into the mountains. While in Colorado, they
welcomed the birth of their 2 children, Amy and Charlie.
In 1973, Janet and Roger moved back to the Hadlock family farm near Longton. Janet helped raise
cattle and hogs on the farm, and was also active in the community as treasurer for the Elk Valley
school board, on the Elk County Free Fair Association, and was a member of the Longton United
Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Cove EHU. Janet later worked at the Longton Co-Op, and is a
retired teller from the Longton Bank.
Janet was a talented seamstress, and loved to sew, quilt, and make rugs on the loom she had in
her home. She had a tradition of making the BBQ sauce for the Elk County Free Fair at Longton for
many years. Above all, Janet was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to
many. She has gone to be with Jesus, but will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

son, Charlie Hadlock of Longton, KS.
